Bleeding Art - CREATING COOL at Beakerhead. You're Invited!
After watching Beakerhead,“a smash-up of science, art and engineering” grow over the past few years into one of Calgary’s coolest events, we’re thrilled to be partnering with them for a smash up event of our own, CREATING COOL on Friday, September 16, at 7pm. We’re frequently asked for tours of our shop so we thought why not open the doors to our inner sanctum for a fun evening? As Beakerhead organizers say, “when you throw open the doors to science and engineering through a welcoming world of art and entertainment, a lot can happen.” Tickets are now officially on sale. CREATING COOL will be a truly unique experience, as the fog rolls in and the mini indoor snowstorm descends you’ll take a self-guided tour of our own little shop of special effects. There will be film screenings – featuring Bleeding Art’s award-winning stop motion animated shorts – Skeleton Girl and The River and free special effects make-up demos, with you as the model! How about a bullet hole or zombie face to complete your Beakerhead outfit?
speaking of dressing the part – all cos-players and steam punkers are invited
to wear their coolest costume – there will be some super fun photo opps –
including taking a pic with a scary film prop or beside a unique antique 1917
Hit and Miss gas/kerosene engine. Check one out here!
spectacle not to be missed but not for the faint of heart will be a
demonstration of the live autopsy suit we made for Syfy’s Wynonna Earp (see
above behind the scenes shot of Leo and Josiah prepping on set). This
exhibit alone convinced us 14+ was the right age limit for CREATING COOL.
Adults and older teens will have a great time.
We’re also happy to host funky foodie Popculture’s custom made popsicles and more yummy snacks for you to munch on.
There is more to tell but we don’t want to give it all away, surprises are always fun. Attendance is limited to 100 people so don’t delay – CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS
